T-Mobile Release HTC Desire Froyo Update... Are O2 Waiting for Android 2.3 Gingerbread Release!?

HTC Desire customers on T-Mobile will be pleased that their network has now just released the Android 2.2 update to their customers - this apparently happened yesterday although some of their customers were accidentally upgraded to a German version of the software!

Apparently that early glitch has been solved; still no word for O2 customers itching to upgrade nearly 5 months after the Froyo was actually released - they might as well skip this release and start preparing for the Android 2.3 'Gingerbread' release which is due to demo some of the following new features in Q4 2010;

Bugfixes based upon its predecessor operating systems.

Open source video codec that can replace flash.

Enhanced advertising algorithm.

Advanced Navigation System.

HTML5 or higher standard specs.

Native video embedding in web pages that will enable viewing of any video without acquiring specific codec.

Enriched & more interactive User Interface.

HTC O2 Desire Froyo Update - Lost In Space?

I'm sure there are a fair few others waiting for Android 2.2 (Froyo release) for the HTC Desire?

Oh wait, only those on O2 UK are *still* waiting... even Vodafone customers have received their update! Brilliant. NO, not at all! :(

Apparently O2 pushed out the 2.2 update to O2 locked handsets earlier this month on the 6th Sept; however the update was only live for a couple of hours before HQ changed their mind because irate customer feedback indicated it was rinsing more than the occasional handset... stuck on the O2 boot-up screen of all places... talk about rubbing your face in it :/

Apparently there will be a new release attempt at the end of September, that can't come soon enough for me. In the meantime I think I'll be changing the gel case on my HTC Desire, currently I'm sporting a Purple Gel Case but I think I'm going refresh the look with an even more eye-catching HTC Desire case... in bright red this time :)

Apple Releases iOS 4.1 - Game Center for anyone?

Yesterday Apple released a new version of their iPhone/iPod Touch operating system - iOS 4.1 is now furnished with a new application called "Gamer Center" enabling you to pick a competitor to play multiplayer games with... as long as they have have iOS 4.1.

For the iPHone 4 owners out there, you also get a couple new features namely; high dynamic range imaging [to improve photo quality] and the 'essential' new feature of being able to upload your HD videos straight onto YouTube via a friendly Wi-Fi connection.

There are a few other tweaks and improvements, but nothing so groundbreaking as to be worth a mention - and for those naughty monkey's out there who desire to jailbreak their devices... apparently a hack is already available so no worries in that regard!

...I can already hear you booting up iTunes :)
